Approaches to quantitative social policy research - workshop

Poznań, September 22-23, 2022

Professor Ann-Zofie Duvander (Stockholm University, Mid Sweden University), Dr Thordis Reimer (Hamburg University), Professor Alison Koslowski (University College London) present a two-day English language workshop on quantitative methods in family-related social policy research.

This workshop is for students with an interest in quantitative social policy research.

The first day will consider the range of approaches common in family-related social policy and provide an introduction to key international datasets often used by scholars.

Students will have the opportunity to develop their own research questions and potentially identify new sources of data for their own research. The aim is to reflect on possible research designs and what opportunities and limitations various data sets entail.

The second day will consider the role of quantitative scholars in evaluating policies. It will provide an opportunity to reflect on the relationship between policy makers and quantitative researchers and the potential impact of such research.

Participants will need to bring a laptop.
